Henry Pickelhimer’s Will
I Henry Picklehimer of the County of Clay and State of Missouri do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say
First it is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid.
Second I give devise and bequeath to my son Jacob Picklehimer all the real estate which I possess upon condition that my son Jacob pays all my just debts.
Third I give and bequeath to Polly Pickelhimer wife of Isaac Pickelhimer my yellow girl Helen a slave for life, who is to have the use of said girle Hilen so long as the said Polly Pickelhimer may live, and should Helen out live Mrs P then the said Helen is to descend to John Pickelhimer son of said Polly Pickelhimer. Should Helen have any children previous to the death of Polly Pickelhimer above named it is my will that my son Jacob Pickelhimer and Rebecka Kennedy my daughter now in Kentucky shall share equally in such increase.
Fourth I give and bequeath to my son Jacob the oldest child of Helen, a girl named Amanda, and the youngest child to my beloved grand daughter Polly Pickelhimer daughter of the above named Polly Pickelhimer, a girl named America Francis.
Fifth it is my will that all my personal property the slaves excepted be sold on a credit, and when the money is collected it is my will that the money be paid over to my daughter Rebecca Kennedy for her special use and benefit with the exception of five doller. My wish is that it be distinctly understood the girl Helen wich I have given to Polly Pickhimer during her life is given for her special use and benefit and my wish is that my son Isaac Pickelhimer is to have no control nor anything to do with said Helen what ever.
I give and bequeath to my son Isaac the sum of five dollars to be paid to him when the money is collected from the sale of my personal property and lastly I hereby appoint my son Jacob and my grandson John Pickelhimer to be the executors of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all former wills by me made and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 27th day of January 1842.
