Know all men by these presents that John Harger of Franklin County Virginia being of sound mind and disposing memory thanks be to God for his blessings - calling to mind that it is ordained for all men once to die do make this my last Will and Testament First - I desire to be buried in Christian form hoping for happiness through the Merits of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ - Item I desire all my just debts to be paid - Item I give to my Son George Harger and his heirs forever all my Lands in Franklin County and no more of my Estate. I have made son George Harger a Deed for my Lands after my death which is not yet recorded and I now devise to him & his heirs my Lands as aforesaid - for his greater security to have the same after my death - Item - I give to my dear Daughter, Betsey Ann, one Negro Girl named Rose about Eighteen years old and all the increase of the said Rose to her and her heirs forever - Item I give my Son-in-law John Picklesimer one Dollar and no more - Item I give my Son-in-law, John Young, one Dollar and no more - all the rest and residue of my Estate I direct to be sold and the money arising from such Sale to be divided in five parts one forth that is one fifth I give to John Burwell Harger a Son to one of my deceased Daughters, one other fifth to the Children of my Daughter Nancy Jakes wife of James Jakes - one other fifth to my Son-in-law Peter Fishburn who married my dear Daughter Cloa. one other fifth to my Daughter Anna Woody, one other fifth to my Son-in-law John Moody who married my Daughter, Frances, also all money & other property of mine not before disposed of in this Will I devise to be equally divided between said John Burwell Harger the Children of Nancy Jakes - Peter Fishburn, Anna Woody and John Woody share and share alike - the children of said Nancy Jakes to have as above but one fifth part, Lastly, I appoint my friends Nath H Claiborne and Willis Tinsley executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills heretofore by me made and declaring this is to be my last Will and Testament. Given under my hand and seal this 11^th day of October 1822.

This last Will and Testament of John Harger deceased was proved by the oath of Joel Parsel and John Parsel two of the subscribing witnesses hereto, and ordered to be recorded. and on the motion of Willis Tinsley, one of the Executors herein named who made Oath and entered into bond and security conditioned according to law. certificates is granted him for attaining a probat hereof in due form. Liberty being reserved to the other Executor herein named to join in the probat when he shall think fit.
