Abraham Lawshe’s Will

 

In the name of God Amen.  I Abraham Lawshe of the Township of Franklin in the County of Hunterdon and State of New Jersey being of sound mind memory and understanding, for which blessing I thank God, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say:

 

First it is my will that all my just debts and funeral expenses per duly paid and satisfyed as soon as conveniently can be don after my decease.

 

Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah Lawshe my house and lot of land in the village of Quakertown with all the buildings and improvements there on erected together with all my house hold goods of every description from the garrett to the celler during her natural life.  Also I bequeath to her out of my estate a sum sufficient for her support during her natural life be that sum what it may.

 

Item: I give and bequeath to my son Aaron Lawshe one thousand dollars to be paid to him by my executor as soon as conveniently can be don after my decease this to be his entire share of my estate.

 

Item: I give and bequeath to my son John’s four sons Viz: Joseph, Albert, Abraham and Samuel the sum of two thousand dollars to be equally divided between them on their several arival  to the age of twenty one years share and share alike.  Should either of them die before they arive to the age of twenty one such one’s share to be equally divided amongst or between the surviving brothers that to be their full share.

 

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Fanny V. Lawshe now Armsbury the sum of one thousand dollars to be paid her after my decease.

 

Item: After the demise of my wife the ballance of my estate that share as may remain after deductin (sic) debts and expenses it is my will and I do order and direct my executor to divid and pay equally between Fanny Armsbury, Rachel Sumerbell and Jacob Lawshe share and share alike or their several heirs that may at that time survive them.  Should my daughter Fanny V Armsbury now single die without leaving anny heir it is my will that what remains of her share at the time of her death be equally divided between her brothers and sisters children share and share alike.

 

Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my daughter Fanny V Armsbury executor to this my last will and testament.

I Abraham Lawshe of the County of Hunterdon and State of New Jersey do this twenty first day of January AD 1874 make and publish this codicil to my last will and testamint.  In Refference to the one thousand dollars which in my last will and testament I gave and bequeathed and directed to my executor to pay to my son Aaron Lawshe I do hereby revoke By this my codicil and do now insted thereof order and direct my executor after my decease to place at interes on Bond and mortgage the sum of one thousand dollars and pay the interest of the same anually to Samantha Lawshe wife of my son Aaron during her natural life and at her decease to equally devid the one thousand dollars Between my said son Aarons two children Viz Albert Lawshe & Clarissa Lawshe.

 

Item: I give and bequeath to my said son Aaron Lawshe a certain note given by him to me for twenty dollars as his entire share of my estate.
