David Lawshe’s Will
I
David Lawshe of the township of Delaware in the
County of Hunterdon and State of New Jersey being weak in body but of Sound and
perfect mind and memory do make this for my last will and testament.
First:
I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Ann so much of my Stock of
Horses, neat cattle, Sheep and hogs, so much of my grain and hay, so much of my
goods and chattels of every description that I have as she my
Said wife may choose to keep and Such of my goods chattels and personal estate
as she does not Stand in need of to be sold by my Executor herein after named
as soon after my decease as may be found convenient and the money arising from
such sale to be applied towards discharging my debts.
Second:
I order and direct my executor to sell my Lot in Lambertville within one year
after my decease at Public Sale giving lawful notice of such sale, and I hereby
authorize him to make and execute a good and Sufficient Deed of conveyance to
the purchaser or purchasers for the same, the money arising from Said Sale to
be applied as far as the case may require to the payment of debts. All the residue of my estate after payment of
debts I give to my said wife Elizabeth Ann.
I appoint James J. Foster? Executor of this my last
will and testament. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this sixth
day of February AD eighteen hundred eighteen hundred (sic) and fourty four.
