Levi Lawshe’s Will
In
the name of God, Amen: I Levi Lawshe of the City of
Trenton in the County of Mercer and State of New Jersey being of sound mind and
understanding (for which blessing I thank God) do make and publish this my last
will and testament in manner following: that is to say.
First:
It is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be
duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.
Item:
I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary R. Lawshe
all of my personal property of whatever kind and nature and whatsoever the same
shall be at the time of my death for the purpose of assisting to maintain and
supporting my three miner children Allison R. Lizzie
and David Lawshe untill
they shall become of legal age; and for her own support so long as she shall
remain my widow; should my wife marry again then it is my will that whatever
remains of my said personal estate shall be divided as follows one third
thereof to my wife Mary R. Lawshe and the remaining
two thirds to be divided between my respective children or of said deceased and
then the legacies therein specified , as far as the Goods Chattels and Credit
of said deceased can thereunto extend; that she will make and Exhibit into the Surrogate’s Office of
the County of Mercer a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the
Goods, Chattels and Credit of the said deceased that have or shall come to her
possession or knowledge or to the possession of any other person or persons for
her use; and that she will well and truly account when whereunto lawfully required;
and that said Testator died more than ten days ago, to wit on the 22nd
day of October AD 1889.
