Samuel Beckett’s Will

In the name of God Amen. I Samuel Beckett of the county of Clermont and State of Ohio, being old and infirm but in my right mind, Blessed be God for his mercies, do make this my last will and testament as follows to wit: first my will is that my wife Amy Beckett shall have all my property both personal and real or as much as will support her well while she lives, under this consideration, that She is not to wast it or give it away while she lives.

My will is, that my son Solomon Beckett and my son Benjamin Beckett Shall help their mother to manage the farm so that she gets her support while she lives. If they do so faithfully then at their mothers death all the property Shall belong to themselves and theirs on a certain condition: That my sons Solomon and Benjamin Shall pay my son Thomas Becketts children ($10.00) ten dollars each and likewise they pay Orlando Beckett ($15.00) fifteen dollars. And likewise Rosella Robb ($10.00) ten dollars, and likewise William H. Beckett ($1.00) one dollar and this is to be paid at the death of my wife Amy Beckett.

My will is that my sons Solomon and Benjamin shall ve my legal agents to transact my business.

In testimony whereof I Samuel Beckett have this 16th day of June 1880 hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal in presence of us.
