Henry Slingluff’s Will
In the Name of God amen! I Henry Slingluff of Chaltenham Township in the County of Philadelphia and Province of Pennsylvania Weaver being Aged, yet in my usual tolerable good State of Health of Body and of sound Mind, Memory and Understanding for which I am humbly thankfull to Almighty God, the Fountain of Blessings and Favours under a Sense of the uncertainty of my Time here I am induced to settle and dispose of my outward Terestial Affaires or Estate by these Presents as my last Will and Testament, and I do hereby Order and require, in the first Place, that all and Singular my just Debts, funeral and other Expenses concerning me or my Estate, be well and truly paid and Discharged. And whereas my Son Henry Slingluff and my two Daughters Christina and Elizabeth have each of them abode with me, and worked for me, for many Years after their mature Age, I therefore think it my just Duty to make them some Recompensation for the Dutiful Services done to me in Manner following, that is to say, my Said Son Henry is to have and to get Fifty Pounds lawfull Money of Pennsylvania and one Horse and a Feather Bed and my above mentioned two Daughters Christina and Elizabeth are each of them to have a good Feather Bed with all the Appurtenances thereto belonging ??? Thirty Pounds of Lawful Money aforesaid and a Chest of Drawers between them both over and above there equal Share hereafter to be mentioned. Item. It is my Will, and I do hereby Order, that if my esteemed Brother Peter Slingluff should survive me in such Case he shall be maintained and supported with the necessaries and conveniences of Life suitable to his Circomstances, out of my Estate with his Help and Industry to manage and Cultivate the same, whilst able and capable, under the Care and Inspection of my Executors for and during his natural Life in full of his Part in, or Demand on my Estate. And for that End and Purpose my Will is, that all my Estate both Real and Personal yet remaining shall (as much as possible) be kept Whole & entire, untill my said Brothers decease. After whose decease I impower and authorize my Executors hereafter named, or the Survivour of them to sell and despose of my ??? Plantation and all my Land of ??? with the Apurtunances thereto belonging in Cheltenham aforesaid whereon I now dwell, and in my Name and Stead to make, Execute and Acknowledge proper, legal and Authentick Deed or Deeds of State in fee simple for the same, or any Part thereof, to the Purchaser, or Purchasers and to his or their Heirs and Assigns for ever; and also to sell and turn into Cash all my remaining Moveables or Personal Estate, not heretofore given and bequeathed. And the Money arising by such Sale, with all my remaining Estate whatsoever, after Debts and other necessary Expenses are paid and satisfied, including Funeral or any other Expenses on Account of my said Brother, I give, devise and Bequeath the same unto all my Children, and my Grand Child, namely John Slingluff, Henry Slingluff, Christina Slingluff, Elizabeth Slingluff, my Children, and John Bechtelsheimer, my Grand Son, and Issue of my Daughter Sophia deceased, to be equally devided amongst them, Part and Share alike, in full for their and each of their Part and Share of my Estate; but if my said Grand Son John Bechtelsheimer, should happen to depart this Life in Minority, and without Lawful Issue, in such case I will that the Part of my Estate hereby bequeathed to or intended for him, shall become the Property and I give and bequeath the same to all my said Children then living, equally to be devided amongst them, Part & Share alike. I nominate, constitute and Appoint my trusty Friends George Shreiber, Bookbinder, and Peter Keyser, Tanner, both of Germantown, Executors of this my last Will and Testament, And I do hereby utterly disallow and revoke all former Testaments, Wills, Legacies and Executors, ratifying and confirming this, and no other, to be my Last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Fourteenth Day of November, in the Year of our Lord, One thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Four.

Interliniations have been made before Signing and Sealing between the 16 & 17 Line, also between the 19th and 20th and 26 and 27.
