{"id":66,"date":"2008-09-02T07:00:52","date_gmt":"2008-09-02T14:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amosfamily.net:8181\/?p=66"},"modified":"2008-09-02T12:47:40","modified_gmt":"2008-09-02T19:47:40","slug":"not-so-insane-camping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amosfamily.net\/?p=66","title":{"rendered":"Not So Insane Camping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Jon and I went <a title=\"Insane Camping\" href=\"http:\/\/amosfamily.net:8181\/?p=30\" target=\"_blank\">camping last December<\/a>.\u00a0 That was an insane trip.\u00a0 A couple of weeks ago we decided to attempt another trip.\u00a0 This time we planned on going to Mt. Graham, but had a backup if the weather was bad.\u00a0 The weather forecast for Mt. Graham sounded like our last trip so we decided to go to <a title=\"Haigler Creek Information\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fs.fed.us\/r3\/tonto\/recreation\/rogs\/wateractiv\/pvrd\/HaiglerCreek.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Haigler Creek<\/a>.\u00a0 We camped at the developed campground at <a title=\"Haigler Canyon Information\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fs.fed.us\/r3\/tonto\/recreation\/rogs\/camping\/PleasantValley\/HaiglerCanyon.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Haigler Canyon<\/a>.\u00a0 You can camp free most anywhere, but at the developed campground you have a bathroom, bear proof trash can, and a nice prepared tent location with a picnic table and a fire pit\/grill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0421.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Camping\" src=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0421.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I really prefer this type of camping.\u00a0 Especially when the trip involves a little fishing as well.\u00a0 We chose Haigler Creek based on an account that the forest service stocks prize fish into the creek as an attempt to lure fisherman away from the crowded creeks into the less occupied areas.\u00a0 My first attempt to catch one of these prize fish didn&#8217;t turn out too well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0420.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"First Fish of the Day\" src=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0420.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After not catching anything I set about looking for a better place to fish.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t find a good fishing hole, but I did encounter some wild blackberries.\u00a0 I ate a few and then picked a couple handfuls to have with breakfast. They tasted very good on the pancakes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0428.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Blackberries\" src=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0428.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After breakfast we packed up our stuff and headed out to fish for a few hours before leaving.\u00a0 We were more dedicated this time and found a few good spots to fish.\u00a0 I got a couple of bites and then landed a small rainbow trout.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0430.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Rainbow Trout\" src=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0430.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We found an even better place to fish.\u00a0 I caught a fish and just as it&#8217;s mouth touched the air it wiggled free.\u00a0 Jon caught what we believe to be the same fish.\u00a0 The fish freed itself in the same way it did for me.\u00a0 It must have a skill for getting loose.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One of the best parts about going camping is the opportunity to see the wildlife.\u00a0 The butterfly below was a fun find.\u00a0 Even more fun was discussing the creature causing the footprint just to the upper right of the butterfly.\u00a0 A skunk was the final consensus, but perhaps we were wrong.\u00a0 Any ideas?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0432.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Butterfly\" src=\"http:\/\/media.amosfamily.net\/img\/DSCF0432.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">What in the world is the plant in the two last photos?
